Good to see you here ...

We all understand how essential creativity is for our humanity and well-being, providing us with meaning, purpose and joy. And that a responsible mind-set to both making and purchasing is urgently needed, one that allows us to continue to create within a circular economy and to buy without guilt. So yes, good to see you here to share how AnarkikCreations is working towards this and how AC, set up by Ann Marie Shillito as a loose association of like-minded individuals, can support an ethos of sustainability.

It is a hard balancing act for us designer makers and applied artists. It is also hard for our lovely customers who support us by purchasing and wearing our expressive, contemporary jewellery. Within our collections our ‘2nd life material’ pieces quietly shout their green credentials about the importance of protecting our natural environment!

Good to see you here! This image shows a large brooch made from 3D printed red swirls. The 3D printing filament used is recycled PLA. The inspiration for the Red Red brooch came via Ann Marie Shillito's lockdown project exploring 3D printing as she had direct access to a desktop 3D printer and experimented with embedding materials during the 3D printing process.

2nd life materials

One category is ‘2nd life materials’ for those designs which use sustainable 3D printer materials**** and use waste and scrap materials. By reusing and repurposing these we keep this waste out of landfill. We add value by transforming them, through creative use of 3D technologies and hand-making, into pieces to cherish for their vitality and ecological thoughtfulness.

*Haptics means ‘touch’ and here it means 3D touch

**Loaning/renting is more ecologically responsible than purchasing!

***Yes, we love sharing our knowledge especially about how we use digital technology in ways that we can protect our natural environment better.
